Individual Personalities

What about that individual personality?

It is important to really get to know each child.  My Grace doesn’t like to hug and kiss.  I respect her wishes and she always feels comfortable knowing she will not be forced to undergo the kiss Grammy routine. Jack is in the middle of five brothers and a sister.  I make it a point to put him in charge of things.  The middle child often gets lost and a grandparent is the best source of support.  It only takes a few minutes of your time to sit with each child and get to know what is important to him or her.  You can do this by letter or e-mail or phone.  Your grandchildren don’t necessarily want to be your best friend but they love the fact that they can talk to you without being judged.  When they tell you something in secret (that is not harmful or dangerous) it should be kept secret.
